How do you view the movies placement and GT?

I sort of had this conversation in another thread with THEPRINCEOFSAIYAJINS and it really made a lot of sense.

That everything was canon, but in a multiuniverse, then that got me thinking... What If all the Movies did fit together in another Universe where they were part of it's main timeline and wasn't just side stories in that Universe, and in that same universe GT takes place there too... so, the movies could still fit together and in the timeline, but not the main timeline and in another universe where everything is connected.

Thoughts?

I think it's cool to think that way. I personally feel there's a simpler method, but it's not always the most enjoyable.

+ Pyrus just ignores everything that isn't the manga or some guidebooks.

Otherwise, each universe has its own set of movies that work together to produce something resembling coherence, and GT can fit in anywhere.

Yeah, 12 Universe theory could make everything DB related work well in their respective universes.

If you haven't seen Battle of Gods, there's a very minor spoiler at the end (And I mean minor because TRUNKS ALREADY TOLD US) that Dragonball IS a multiverse. Implicating that nothing is "canon" or "non-canon" it just fits neatly into certain continuities, like Transformers and Marvel stories. He didn't say that directly, a better paraphrase is "This is the seventh universe, there are 11 others out there, each with their own God of Destruction." Or something to that effect. The game Battle of Z ran with this in a special mode that reminded me a bit of Deagon Ball multiverse where you fight characters from alternate timelines, including a Vegetto that was the strongest in his universe period. I'm kinda alright with that theory, so then all the new stuff (Some of which I enjoy, some I don't) doesn't derail the canon of other works in the EU (Like Dragonball Online, Dragonball GT, and other stuff.) I've been thinking personally that Dragonball should have seperate continuities and canons like every other fictional universe (Spider-man, Superman, Transformers, Star Wars, Mortal KOMBAT, Sonic the Hedgehog, I can keep going) but the fan base is still stuck on smashing everything into "Toriyama did it or he didn't" categories. Can you tell that grinds my gears?

I had completely forgotten about that.

So, does that mean my OP could actually work?

Personally I think that's EXACLTY how it works. Give me hope for a Dragonball Reboot ala Ultimate Marvel or New 52 DC.

Nice.

That's how I would do it though... have one Universe where Everything fits together like a glove, Series, Movies and GT. Or, some of the Movies takes places in some of the Universes, while some fit in another.

Um bad news. BoG did say it's 12 universes. However it's not like alt. Universes. It's Universes of it's own. It's own set of Kais, races, and even Gods of Destruction. So that pretty much kills this theory. Unless you want to say alt. timelines. Cause the universes aren't connected in anyway. In no shape or form.

How do you know that? What in Beerus speech even implicates this at all?

"Side stories."

That's a more out-of-universe answer than an in-universe one. I don't believe the "12 Universes" idea introduced in Battle of Gods is just going to be some sort of Marvel- or DC-esque alternate universe deal where other past stories can be dropped into. That'd be anticlimactic and lame.

I'd prefer it that way honestly. I only really care about Dragon Ball when it comes to Dragon Ball. We don't need alternate universes with different characters and physics.
